Macscript.com releases commercial AppleScript library

Macscript.com today released what it believes to be the largest and most powerful collection of AppleScript functions commercially available. With over 110 powerful functions, the Macscript.com Library allows even novice scripters to immediately benefit from years of AppleScript programming experience.

"This library picks up where the AppleScript language leaves off," says Steven Angier, head of Macscript.com. "These functions will have beginners writing powerful, robust scripts in a fraction of the time it used to. Complex applications can now be built with only a few lines of code."

The Macscript.com Library features over 110 functions written natively in AppleScript in six suites: file functions, general functions, list functions, math functions, process functions, and string functions. Wherever possible, these functions have been written without the use of even the standard scripting additions, with many functions dramatically outperforming their scripting addition equivalents by more than 100 times.

"We have been working on this for many months -- consolidating functions that we have written in commercial projects over the years, testing, tweaking, and refining. What we have ended up with is a comprehensive collection of solid, general-purpose functions."

"This is only the beginning. We are currently refining our application-specific function sets; so users can expect to see similar offerings for scripting QuarkXPress, FileMaker Pro, and others. We are also looking at marketing additional function suites and commercial-grade application shells."

The Macscript.com Library package costs US $49 and includes a royalty-free embedded distribution license. The package includes files for developing with the Script Editor, FaceSpan, and Script Debugger.

A sampler version is available for download and evaluation from the Macscript.com website (http://www.macscript.com). The sampler contains a subset of 20 functions taken from the Macscript.com library package.

Macscript.com is a developer of AppleScript products, both off-the-shelf and made-to-order.
